The Organization

Although based in South Africa, members operate in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. The SAACB is a registered not for profit company (NPC) and is recognized by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS).

Certification Process

Members are required to make certification decisions based on the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 and the other relevant parts of that standard. Accredited certification is the focus of the SAACB. There should be no link between certification and consultancy. The SAACB has established a Code of Conduct which has been agreed to by all members. All members adhere to IAF and Accreditation Body rules.

Accreditation Details

Full members are accredited by a wide range of IAF member bodies. Some hold 20 or more accreditations. Some hold one or two accreditations. All subscribe to the same principles of professional certification. All are subjected to regular audit by Accreditation Bodies, centrally and regionally.

Members Management System

All members have management systems conforming to ISO 17021-1:2015, and other relevant parts of that standard, in place to address consistency. All members have systems based on IAF and Accreditation Body endorsed practices. Some member’s systems are strongly centralized other are decentralized.
